Established in 2001, Brain
Works offers brain training and auditory training
to people around the world. These programs promote
the development of the brain, auditory, visual,
motor and vestibular systems.
The Tomatis-based auditory
training, visual-motor-balance program and brain
training can be done at Brain Works or training
products can be purchased for home use (See
Products).
We help toddlers to senior citizens, who
are learning challenged to gifted. By completion,
people observe improvements in the ability to
think, remember, listen, speak, read, write,
move, socialize and focus. Most programs span
three months to establish neural growth in the
brain.

Brain
Training
The
brain CAN be stimulated to create new pathways,
which strengthens connections among areas of
the brain. A good example is the visual-motor
connection.
Within recent years, researchers have
found the following to be true:
-
The brain continues to grow new
cells until we take our last breath
-
Mental skills are improved by challenging
the brain regardless of age
At Brain Works, clients work on
cognitive training computer programs,
visual-motor-balance exercises and auditory
training to help their brains develop
abilities that are at the foundation
of learning.
These skills include visual perception,
memory, attention span, auditory perception,
reasoning, sensory integration, and
processing speed.
Success in reading, writing, math,
receptive and expressive language, social
skills, problem solving, driving and
work-related skills all depend upon
the proper working of these fundamental
abilities.

Auditory
Training

Auditory training is important for listening-related
abilties such as tuning out background noise,
word-finding while speaking and understanding
what is said in conversation (auditory processing).
Auditory training sends stimulating sound energy
to the brain and, thereby, encourages the growth
of brain pathways.
Sound stimulation
pioneer, Dr. Alfred Tomatis, was the creator
of the first listening program that used the
power of modified classical music to promote
better functioning of the ears, body and brain.
There are now several Tomatis-based auditory
training programs. See
Products page.
While the programs
may differ in which of Tomatis' principles are
used, what they have in common is that different
groups of frequencies are heard at particular
times during the training. The end result is
usually as follows:
|
-
The middle ear muscles
become strengthened, which
can help decrease sound sensitivity
and increase listening focus.
-
the vestibular system in
the ears is stimulated, which can
improve balance, coordination, body
awareness and muscle tone.
-
the brain grows new pathways,
which can result in better memory,
attention span, auditory processing,
visual perception, reasoning, sensory
integration, frustration tolerance,
sleep, social awareness, eye contact,
mood regulation and more tolerance
for food textures, tastes, smells
and touch.
